It’s About How You End A Game That Matters

JV Men's Basketball: James Monroe Yellow Jackets vs. Chancellor Chargers

A game filled with lots of energy and emotion from both teams, the Chancellor Chargers (8-7) and James Monroe Yellow Jackets! Apparent rivals showed their skills as the game constantly went back and forth with points from both teams. January 27, Friday night at 5:30 was the beginning of the JV boys basketball game. It was an excellent game that made you want to stay and watch.

The Yellow Jackets started off strong with a consistent scoring of 2 point shots coming from an abundance of different players. This showed that everyone on the Yellow Jackets definitely brought their "A" game! But the Chargers were not going to back down, tied up with the Yellow Jackets throughout the first quarter. But #10 from the Yellow Jackets made sure he kept The Chargers behind them with 6 points in the quarter. Making the score of quarter one, Chargers 11 and the Yellow Jackets 15.

Quarter two started off with an amazing play by #00, on the Chargers, when he stole the ball from the opposite team taking it all the way down the court with no one around him making an impressive lay up. The points were going very back and forth with Chargers scoring then Yellow Jackets then the Chargers. You seemed to have your neck on a swivel the whole quarter. At the end of quarter two, #11 scored the first three pointer of the game leaving the score Chargers 22, Yellow Jackets 21.

The Chargers came back strong with not one, not two, but three 3 pointers from #5 scoring one and #11 making two. Yellow Jackets maintained great defense minimizing the amount of points the Chargers could have taken. #10 from the Yellow Jackets showed a lot of power pushing through the Chargers defense in quarter three and scoring a couple 2 point shots. Two people definitely worth mentioning in quarter three are #10 and #11 being a tremendous team. These two players from The Chancellor Chargers show great teamwork and coordination as they constantly help each other through every play they make. Ending the quarter with the score Chargers 37, Yellow Jackets 30.

Five seconds in and your eyes can barely keep up with #11 from the Chargers. A player from the Yellow Jackets starts off the final quarter throwing the ball to his team mate. But #11, from the Chargers, quickly blocks and steals the ball mid-throw moves as fast a lightning to the net and makes a quick lay up scoring the first two points of the quarter. That puts a lot of confidence in the Chargers team getting them all pumped up and playing their best in the last quarter. The Chargers are now showing absolutely no mercy for the Yellow Jackets. Leaving the last quarter of the game Chargers 53 and Yellow Jackets 38.

Overall it was a great game. Showing that no matter how the game starts it about how you finish it that counts. This was the second win for the Chargers against the Yellow Jackets this year as they sweeped the season series. But The Chargers had a phenomenal game with #11 being the star player scoring 24 points and having 2 assists. Making him 8 for 17 total on the night. Great job to both teams!
