Chargers Roll Over Knights In Final Home Game

JV Football : Spotsylvania Knights vs. Chancellor Chargers

The Chancellor Chargers passing game lit up the Spotsylvania Knights' secondary Wednesday night. Chargers receivers combined for 263 out of the 334 total yards of offense thanks to some perfect passes from No. 5 Trevor Gleason. It was the Chargers who came out on top, with a 34 - 0 shutout win.

The Chancellor Chargers defense recorded its' sixth shutout of the season tonight, only allowing 114 total yards of offense. The defense also picked up two sacks by No. 44 and No. 77. The first sack by No. 44 caused a fumble that would later be cashed in for seven points by the Chargers' offense. And just to look even better, No. 26 had an interception of his own which was turned into points as well.

In the first quarter the Chargers started things off well with a 35 yard punt return by No. 19 to set up the Chargers with some good field position. The Chargers then proceeded to charge down the field 64 yards thanks to a big pass from Gleason to No. 26. The Chargers did have some dropped passes later in the quarter, but it didn't impact the game as they left it in the past and focused on the next play.

The second quarter was featured with two more touchdowns by the Chargers. The first touchdown came with nice field position again, and another big pass which set up a running play for No. 29 Terrance Shepard who punched it in. The second touchdown came off a huge pass from Gleason to Grant Amos, who dodged Knight defenders for 44 yards into the end-zone. As the half ended, the Chargers held a 21 - 0 advantage.

Headed into the second half, the Chargers offense was held a bit more in check as the were only able to get three points. Despite a bit of an offensive stall, the defense made sure that the Knights stayed well out of reach of scoring and keeping the shutout intact.

I  the final quarter, Gleason stayed in for long enough to get another impressive drive in that included a 38 yard pass to No. 88 Dawson Garrett that would eventually set up another touchdown run for Shepard. After this, No. 18 Jordan Staats replaced Gleason and did fairly well as he continued to efficiently pass the ball. After one more late field goal, the Chargers kept the Knights scoreless for the rest of the night and won the game.
