Varsity Football : Chancellor Chargers vs. Eastern View Cyclones
Friday night's huge match-up between the Chancellor Chargers and Eastern View Cyclones was just as intense and well fought as everyone expected. The score went back and forth as emotions were high and the stands were full, but in the end it was the Cyclones who came out on top with a final score of 28 - 24.

In the first quarter of the game, the Cyclones got off to a very quick start putting up 14 unanswered points. The passing game exploited the Chargers' secondary, as two big drives made it seem as if the Cyclones might just storm on by.

That was, until the Chargers made a huge response to end the quarter as Senior Jason Brown ran from 18 yards out, dodging multiple defenders to get the Chargers some points. Brown came off the field a little shaky, but that didn't stop him from playing the rest of the game. After one quarter, it was Cyclones 14 Chargers 7.
Going into the next quarter the Chargers didn't slow down at all, as Senior E.J. Jenkins and a Cyclone defender both jumped up for a ball thrown by ball. Jenkins came down with it, running 80 yards for a touchdown that tied the game sending the Charger fans into a frenzy.
After some very good defense by both teams, the Chargers pushed down the field late to add on a 35 yard field goal by Senior Austin Seipp. At halftime, it was Chargers 17 Cyclones 14.
The Chargers had put up 17 unanswered points, and the Cyclones knew that full well going into the second half. They came back into the game using a devestating rushing attack led by Trey Holmes who hadn't played at all in the first half. The Cyclones used his legs to add seven points, and put the game in their advantage with a score of 21 - 17.
After Chancellor's offense had a quick three and out, the defense really stepped up as Seniors Noah Manuel and E.J. Fields both recorded sacks forcing the Cyclones to punt. With good field position, the Chargers charged down the field. Junior Lovell Armstead capped it off with a short touchdown run to give the Chargers the lead back, making the score 24 - 21.

Going into the fourth quarter, the Cyclones used their running attack to hurt the Chargers. The biggest player of the second half had to be Holmes, who put up 127 rushing yards and helped set up the game winning touchdown for the Cyclones. Eddie Russel passed the ball to D'ago Hunter, and the Cyclones had the lead back again with a score of 28 - 24.
The Chargers would get the ball back, but were unable to convert a 4th and 6, giving the ball back to the Cyclones. And after Holmes rushed the ball into Chargers' territory, the game was over and ended in the Cyclones' favor. It was a hard fought, incredible game that had everyone on the edge of their seats.
The Eastern View Cyclones will move on to the quarterfinals to take on the Dinwiddie Patriots next Friday, as the Chancellor Chargers incredible 2016 campaign came to an end. This team had huge heart and it was incredible watching them play all four year. The team went from winning one game in 2013, to stealing all our hearts as we watched them beat Massaponax, Courtland, and Powhatan all at home. Thank you so much, to all the players and coaches who made this an incredible season.
