Varsity Volleyball : Chancellor Chargers vs. Caroline Cavaliers
The Chancellor Chargers flew through Thursday night's match-up on October 13th with pure dominance against the Caroline Cavaliers. With 21 total aces by the Chargers, the Cavaliers were shocked and unable to recover as they never held a lead against the Chargers in any of the three matches. At the end of the night it was Chancellor on top, winning 3 - 0.
In match 1 the Chargers hustled their way into a early lead and maintained dominance throughout the entire match. Led by Junior Mackenzie Coates, who totaled 6 aces in the first match alone, the Chargers dominated serve play for the night and kept the Cavaliers in holes too big to dig out of.
The Chargers continued to show incredible defense and it was impossible to tell this was their third game of the week in as many days as the hustle hadn't changed and nobody looked lost for breath. They spiked with ferocity unmatched by their opponents, resulting in a 25-7 final match score.
The Chargers continued to charge into match 2, where they maintained dominance on both sides of the ball. Chancellor reduced the faults as well in this match, which made Caroline work more for their points. Incredible blocks by freshman Joselyn Jones and Junior Sydney Collins highlighted the Chargers defense for the second match, creating a brick wall at the net that was impossible for the Cavaliers to break.
Senior Eryn Suttle continued to have an impressive week as well, as she recorded three more hitting attempts with kills that tore apart the Cavaliers defense. Despite giving up some more points up to Caroline this time around, it was still a match in Chancellor's control the entire time with a final match score of 25-12.
Chancellor put a bow on their week of games with an impressive match 3 win against Caroline that completed the sweep for the night. With multiple diving saves from Seniors Bella Conrad and Brittany Margelos, the defense continued to put pressure on Caroline giving Chancellor more attempts to put away a rally and give them points.
Senior Ashleigh Jenkins notched an impressive performance as well, as she was perfect serving for the night with 16 serves and no faults. Her final drive came in match three that pushed her total of serves, and helped the Chargers' cap off the night with a final match score of 25-9.
