Varsity Field Hockey : Chancellor Chargers vs. Spotsylvania Knights
The Chancellor Chargers went on the road to face the Spotsylvania Knights on the afternoon of October 4th, and it was evident early that the Chargers had complete control over the game. In the first half alone, senior No. 4 Tess Hogan scored two impressive goals to help her team jump to an early lead. The Chargers also found a way to keep possession of the ball which is something they had been struggling with in the past, which helped lead them to a 4 - 0 win.
The Chargers spent almost the entire first half in Knights territory, with multiple pushes that kept the pressure on an impressive Knights goalie. It only took 1 minute and 25 seconds for the lady Chargers to push across their first goal as freshman Kylee Tuebner assisted senior Tess Hogan with knocking the ball into the net to give the Chargers an early 1 - 0 lead. Six minutes later, No. 7 Natalie Amey scored a goal of her own to extend the Charger lead. No. 1 Emma Bernard also had plenty of hard shots to the net, but the Knights goalie was able to hold on and prevent a score. With less than two minutes left to play in the first half Laney Garrette assisted Tess Hogan in her second goal of the game to help the Chargers finish strong.
The second half looked similar to the first, with the Knights unable to maintain possession for long against an aggressive Charger defense. The Knights put in a new goalie to try and spark something new, but the Chargers were still able to push one last goal in before the game ended. Freshman Kylee Tuebner continued her impressive game with a goal of her own to extend the Chargers lead to 4. The Chargers just let the clock tick down as they finished with a strong victory.
