Chargers Lose Footing, Struggle Against Cougars

Varsity Volleyball : Chancellor Chargers vs. Courtland Cougars

The Chancellor Chargers week-long road trip continued Thursday night, as they went to visit an intense Courtland Cougars team. This was their last game before Homecoming, but the magic for that night wasn't able to help the Chargers as they were swept by Courtland. Struggles with both serving and receiving serves plagued the Chargers all night, which led to a 3 - 0 loss.

In the first game, the Chargers made multiple miscues that helped Courtland take control of the game. Courtland's No. 9 Emma Meek was able to pick up four aces in the first match, all towards developing a large lead that was near impossible to come back from. The Chargers showed fight the entire match, though, always diving and giving it their all. The game ended with Courtland winning 25 - 12.

Then in the second game, things seemed to mirror the events of the first. Chancellor struggle during serves and Courtland took advantage of it. In a game taken by the Cougars 25 - 13, it just seemed as if the Chargers were starting to crave their match-up at home next week against James Monroe. Chargers No. 11 Sydney Collins continued to impress however, adding up her totals of spikes, saves, and digs doing what she could.

The final match of the night continued to portray the tone set for the night, as the Chargers just couldn't get their feet underneath them. No. 6 Mackenzie Coates continued to contribute however she could as well, as she collected two blocks making sure the Cougars offense earned their win. The final match ended with a score of 25 - 13.

The Chargers will look forward to next Monday when they will get to play host to James Monroe, focusing on cleaning up the errors and trying to charge into playoff season.
