Chargers Defense Rolls Against 'Jackets

JV Football : James Monroe Yellow Jackets vs. Chancellor Chargers

The Chancellor Chargers were putting points on the board throughout the night against the James Monroe Yellow Jackets on October 12. Quarterback Trevor Gleason for the Chargers had a great night racking up 123 passing yards and 46 rushing nights, having a hand in all five of the Chargers' touchdowns. The defense though deserves the most credit, as their eight sacks led the team to another shutout, 35 - 0 victory.

The first half was when the Chargers did the majority of their damage. Two big passes, one for 17 yards and the other for 36 yards, were offensive highlights. A muffed punt by James Monroe was what really set up the Chargers for the night, as the kicker was unable to get the ball of in time and it gave the Chargers great starting position to then light up the scoreboard.
The Yellow Jackets weren't able to figure out the Chargers defense, as they were held scoreless for the first half and were unable to piece together any drives down the field. This was thanks to a Charger defensive line that was putting pressure on the Yellow Jackets quarterback all night, causing miscues and failed plays. After the first half, it was a 21 - 0 Chargers advantage.

The second half saw the same trend as the first half, as the Chancellor defense continued to show pressure and force James Monroe mistakes. Even when the Yellow Jackets seemed to finally be putting a drive together, an incredible interception by Isaiah Maginat erased any thought of the Chargers giving up a single point. Running back Darius Lee also created his own highlight with a rush of 51 yards down the sideline to set up an eventual seven points for Chancellor.

Next the Chargers will head on the road to compete against Caroline, and try to continue their scoreless streak beyond 12 quarters.
