Chargers Storm To Postseason Victory Against Lions

Varsity Field Hockey : Louisa Lions vs. Chancellor Chargers

On Monday afternoon, the Chancellor Chargers (3rd Seed) took on the Louisa Lions (6th Seed) at home, in a game that belonged to the Chargers. The Lions didn't even get a single shot off on the Chargers' goal, as the Chargers' offense kept possession and pressure on the Lions all day.

In a first half that featured five Charger goals, it was proven early on that the Chargers were ready to move on. In less than two minutes, it was Senior Lilly Church with a quick goal to start the day of scoring. After some nice saves by the Lions' goalie, it was Freshman Emma Bernard continuing to stay hot with a goal of her own that echoed off the trees as it hit the back of the goal. Five minutes later, she did it again scoring her second goal of the day. She went on to score two, yes two, more goals in the half to give the Chargers a 5 - 0 lead and total control over the game.

In the next half, the Chargers continued to show dominance, continuing to never let the Lions even gain possession of the ball. There were four more goals scored, and there was no doubt in anybody's minds that the Chargers would be moving on. The Lions' goalies No. 98 and No. 97 both had some great saves, including one save by No. 97 on a penalty shot from Church. Other than that, though, the Chargers kept the pressure on long enough in a game that couldn't be shortened.
Tomorrow night the Chancellor Chargers will head to Eastern View High School to play in the semi-finals.
